Meet Tom Campbell
Tom Campbell was first elected a North Dakota State Senator in 2012 by defeating a Republican incumbent in the primary election and again winning against a democrat in the general election. Tom has been a state senator for 2 years.
Tom is currently serving as vice chair of Finance and Taxation Committee. He is also serving on the transportation committee. The Interim committees being served are Economic Impact & Workers’ Compensation Review Committee.
Community service includes Tom Campbell serving on the Northland Rescue Mission for homeless for 6 years, Teen Challenge board for 10 years and prison ministry for over 14 years.
Tom has always had an entrepreneur spirit which started a custom combining business at age 16, started a potato farm from scratch in 1978 which has expanded to 5 states with 6 locations with packing sheds that ship consumer potatoes to 48 states and Canada 12 months/year. He has started a potato chip manufacturing business, started a new bank from scratch with help from investor group which now has 15 locations with almost a $1 billion is assets, Tom is chairman of the board. Tom has also started a restaurant, and also a trucking company that owned and operated 75 trucks where Tom drove the first truck over the road in 1978 obtaining accounts and business relationships.
Tom started the Florida Marketing Potato Association in order to help control pricing after a couple years of losses caused by low prices. Tom is also a pilot.
Tom holds a Bachelor of Science degree from NDSU where he also serves on their alumni board. He has been married to Lori for 28 years and has 2 children.
Tom has been self employed his entire life.
